Dr. Jan Räker, LL.M., studied law at Cologne University focusing on public law and sports law, where he also obtained his doctorate. He also obtained a Master of Law in sports law at the McGill Law School in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Räker did his internships at the German Embassy in Washington DC and the German Football League (DFL), amongst others. Since April 2008 Dr. Räker has been working as a corporate counsel for the Hamburger Sport-Verein (HSV), where he was responsible for all legal questions of the association. He was involved, in close co-operation with the executive committee, in the Premier League’s operative business and represented the HSV on national and international committees. Dr. Räker successfully completed a study course in football management at IST Düsseldorf, where he still lectures in marketing and law.
Since July 2012 Dr. Räker has been the general secretary of the International Sports Lawyers Association (ISLA). Dr. Räker joined Prinz Neidhardt Engelschall in December 2011, dealing mainly with sports law.
