We advise and represent our clients in all areas of family law and its associated legal fields. This includes divorces and their financial consequences such as maintenance, statutory pension equalisation, equalisation of accrued gains and the further division of assets, but also disputes about parental care and visitation rights for the joint children. Questions arising from aspects of international private law also belong to this category.
A separation or divorce from a spouse does not only mean a fundamental change to one’s private circumstances, but regularly it also has far reaching legal consequences. In such a situation it is paramount that the affected parties know their legal options as soon as possible to avoid costly mistakes. Together with our clients we analyse their individual circumstances and work out the correct strategy to optimally assert their interests in family law cases. As a general rule, we attempt amicable solutions and conduct the negotiations on behalf of our clients or support them in their negotiations. If consensus cannot be reached, we look after our clients‘ rights in court – strategically, effectively and efficiently.
We also act in a preventative capacity for our clients. Entering into a marriage contract, for instance, normally helps to avoid disputes in family law cases in the run-up to the marriage. We advise our clients prior to the marriage or at the start of a civil partnership, discuss with them in detail the advantages and disadvantages of a contractual agreement and draw up their marriage contract and/or their civil partnership agreement according to their individual needs taking into consideration the legal requirements of the Federal Court of Justice and the Federal Constitutional Court.
All our colleagues in the department of family law are certified solicitors for family law by the bar association with years of practical experience.
