Music Law

“Of all the arts, music has the deepest influence on the mind. A legislature should therefore support it most.”
– Napoleon I. Bonaparte

The modern music business is multilayered and complex. It starts with knowing the difference between composition and sound recording. Or having experience monetizing music on social media. Or to understand the GEMA authorization agreement.

Lawyer Stephan Mathé has been an expert in music law for years and represents numerous large (major) companies in the music industry, both on the publishing side and on the label side. But his clients also include smaller industry members and singer-songwriters. Over the years he has built up a great expertise as a specialist in representation in cases of unauthorized use of compositions and sound recordings by companies, for example on websites and in social media, and in hundreds of cases asserted the claims of rights holders on a national and international level. Clients and opponents alike appreciate the fact that he always strives to find a fair and appropriate solution.

We also represent artists in the negotiation of tape transfer agreements or in disputes about the copyright of a musical work, the band name, etc.
